Youth at Mount Home Baptist
Learning Through Studying the Bible
The studies we use are Bible studies for life from authors like Charles Stanley, Andy Stanley and Greg Laurie.
We have Sunday School at 9:15 am for middle school and high school students. Classes are divided as 7th and 8th grades for girls, 9th through 12th grades for girls, 7th and 8th grades for boys and 9th through 12 th grades for boys. We also have classes for college age students-- 18 through 25 and young adults ages 25 through 35.
Our Sunday evening schedule consists of music practice at 5:00 pm for the Praise Team. This group is open to all students. At 6:00 pm we have a joint Bible study.
Each Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm youth meet for discipleship classes and Bible study. Once a month on Wednesday evenings we go out to sing for our shut-ins and visit the local nursing homes to minister to the residents. In December we go caroling each Wednesday night.
Each Monday night we have “Monday Night Jams” for the college/career age group and our high school seniors. During these sessions we have a meal together, fellowship, pray and have Bible study.
Our youth and college age students volunteer at Burke United Christian Ministries by preparing meals, working in the warehouse plus helping with the Post Office food drive. We have had the opportunity to witness to those who come to the Soup Kitchen for their meals and make friends with some that come on a regular basis.
We participate in the Mission Morganton event and Operation InAsMuch. During November each year we bake cookies and other treats to send to our out of town college students that are studying for exams. Our youth group delivers Thanksgiving meals to our seniors and shut-ins and assist in programs in the church such as the Angel Tree Ministry, Easter Egg Hunt and Trunk or Treat.
